Tempura Served Piece by Piece, Fresh from the Fryer: Makino Tenjinbashi 4-chome

Makino Tenjinbashi 4-chome is an easy place to enjoy freshly fried tempura in Tenma. Located inside Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street, two minutes from JR Temma Station, it is convenient during a shopping trip or a break from work. The 24-seat restaurant is built mainly around its counter, and tempura is cooked to order and served one piece at a time. Set meals start in the ¥1,000 range, making it useful for both solo lunches and dinners.

A Tempura Specialist Inside Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street, Two Minutes from Temma Station

Makino Tenjinbashi 4-chome is on the first floor of Kono Building at 4-10-18 Tenjinbashi, two minutes on foot from JR Temma Station and also within walking distance of Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome Station. Its location in the fourth block of the covered shopping street makes it easy to reach in the rain or after shopping.

Opened in January 2014, it has served Tenma for more than a decade as a branch of the nationwide Tempura Teishoku Makino chain. Its station-side setting works well for lunch or dinner whenever freshly fried tempura sounds appealing.

Each Piece of Tempura Is Served as Soon as It Is Fried

Nothing is fried in advance. Rather than arriving all at once on a platter, each piece is cooked after the order and served as soon as it leaves the fryer, while the batter is still crisp and the flavor and texture of each ingredient are at their best.

The open fryer is visible from the counter, so watching the cooks and waiting for the next piece is part of the experience. Although it is a set meal, the food progresses almost like a course, clearly reflecting the restaurant's emphasis on serving tempura hot and fresh.

A 24-Seat, Counter-Focused Dining Room That Welcomes Solo Diners

There are 24 seats: 20 at the counter and two tables for two. The counter makes the restaurant particularly comfortable for a quick solo lunch or dinner after work, with tempura delivered directly from the fryer in front of you.

Only four table seats are available, so pairs and small groups may want to avoid peak periods or allow time for a wait. The layout is best suited to small parties, especially anyone who wants to enjoy tempura on their own.

Freshly Fried Set Meals from the ¥1,000 Range

The menu centers on tempura set meals with rice and miso soup. The standard set is ¥1,320, with several variations based on the ingredients. Tempura arrives piece by piece, and individual items such as egg tempura and kakiage can be added to customize the meal.

Egg tempura pairs especially well with rice when the yolk is broken over it, while kakiage is a satisfying extra. Being able to eat a full set meal from the ¥1,000 range while every piece is served fresh is a major reason Makino works so well as an everyday restaurant.

Separate Lunch and Dinner Hours, with an Afternoon Break

Lunch runs from 11:00 to 16:00 and dinner from 17:30 to 21:00. The restaurant closes between 16:00 and 17:30, and last orders for lunch are at 15:30.

PeriodHours
Lunch11:00–16:00 (last order 15:30)
Dinner17:30–21:00 (last order 20:30)

There is no regular closing day, so it is convenient on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. Published hours can vary by source, however, so checking the official website or contacting the restaurant is sensible if you plan to visit around the afternoon break.

No Reservations, but Cashless Payments Are Accepted

All seats are non-smoking, and there is no dedicated parking. Remember that reservations are unavailable, the restaurant closes from 16:00 to 17:30, cashless payments are accepted, and nearby paid parking is needed if you arrive by car.
